Journey through Chittorgarh from Udaipur to take a trip that tells tales of bravery, pride and love that bards of Rajasthan were singing over long periods. The massive Fort on the hill represents the Rajput (Warrior caste) spirit and the symbol of all that is noble, brave and authentic. The Fort’s magnificent design and historical significance make it a sought-after destination in Rajasthan. On the Chittorgarh tour, you’ll see the Fort’s most famous landmarks, such as Kirti Stambh, Padmini Palace and the Kalika Mata Temple.
The Fort is a massive complex that is comprised of a variety of structures scattered across the hilltop. The two most popular attractions include Vijay Stambh and Kirti Stambh, both of which have intricate carvings. Vijay Stambh is a literal translation that refers to the “Tower of Victory, ” built to commemorate Rana Kumbha’s victory against Mohammed Khilji in the 15th century. It is among the most magnificent monuments of Chittorgarh Fort. Kirti Stambh, on the other side, is much more ancient and was constructed during the period of the 12th century by a Jain trader to commemorate his victory over Lord Adinath over the tyrannical king Shantanu.
Apart from these aside, there are several temples worth a visit. Meera Temple was dedicated to poet saint Meera Bai and is an essential place of worship for goddess devotees. Kumbha Shyam Temple is another must-see dedicated to Lord Varaha as the embodiment of Lord Vishnu.
The Fort is also home to numerous species of birds and animals. Ensure you have your camera on hand, as each site here is packed with particulars and details that make it remiss not to take pictures. Don’t forget to bring a pair of walking shoes and water since the Fort can sometimes be quite sloping.
